Nepal`s Awesome Northwest
Elisabeth Horak-Auer and Walter Auer Innsalz Verlag AustriaAs some of you might remember, some years ago I was invited by Nepal Trust Austria (an Austrian NGO) to Humla, located in the Northwest of Nepal, to provide medical care for several weeks to pediatric patients in the sparsely equipped hospital within the Himalayas. From this journey an illustrated book has emerged, depicting the lives of the people in this remote place.
Immerse yourself in a world, where electricity and roads are virtually non-existent, where poverty is pervasive, where food shortage is an annual occurring problem and where many children work, instead of going to school. Nevertheless, the people of Humla impress us with their welcoming hospitality, their zest for life and their contentment. Visitors to Humla will experience a stunning landscape and a Nepal unaltered, pristine and off the beaten tourist tracks.
This book is dedicated to the people of Humla and the proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to support Nepal Trust Austria (www.nepaltrust.at) in its ongoing projects for improvement of health care in Humla.
